The Famous Taddy Porter
Brewery: Samuel Smith Old Brewery Style: Porter Serving Type: 550 ml bottle Pours dark with a good tan head. Smells rich chocolate and caramel. Mouthfeel is slick, but when you swallow it’s a little bit cloying. Stays in your mouth. It has a nice chocolate malt aftertaste and is low in bitterness. It’s a great porter. It would have been a little better if it was colder I think, but what can I...
Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout
Brewery: Samuel Smith Old Brewery Style: Imperial Stout Serving Type; 550 ml bottle WOW this beer is interesting. When you pour it looks midnight black and forms a two inch tannish red creamy head. Smells malty and sweet. It has undertones of chocolate, but there is a sharp alcoholic scent as well. This beer is 7% alcohol. Mouthfeel is quite good. Not too dry but definitely not cloyingly sweet....
Belgian White
Brewery: Blue Moon Brewing Company Style: Belgian Style Wheat-Ale. (witbier) Serving Type: Bottle Once again this is a pretty common beer and most people have had it. This is what a lot of people think of when they buy a “fancy” beer that isn’t one of the big 2 (previously the big 3) makers of megaswill. AB and Miller-Coors. I must say, this is a pretty good beer. Pours a golden orange color. ...
Sam Adams Boston Lager
Brewery: The Boston Beer Company Style: Vienna Lager Serving Type: Bottle
This one is pretty standard. Almost everyone has had a Sam Adams. Pretty much every restaurant and bar has it. Pours a light amber color with a little creamy head that doesn’t stick around. Smells very hoppy with some hints of phenyl alcohol. Mouthfeel is pretty good, just the right amount of carbonation. Tastes pretty...
Hoegaarden Original White Ale
Brewery: Brouwerij van Hoegaarden Style: Witbier Serving Type: Bottle I enjoyed this beer. Quite a lot actually. It was the first beer I bought legally on my 21st birthday. It pours a cloudy golden orange color with a thin head and some retention. It smells delicious. The nose had hints of orange peel, coriander, hops and light caramel. Mouthfeel was a little too carbonated for my liking. Overall...
Abbey Belgian Style Ale
Style: Belgian Dubbel Brewery: New Belgium Serving Type: Bottle I thought I might try some Belgian style ale because of my trip in a few weeks although I realize this is not imported. Anyway, I am not impressed with this beer. The nose was interesting, definitely some fruity esters mixed with a caramel, not hoppy at all, but it tastes worse than it smells. Mouthfeel was good although a little...
Cutthroat Porter
Style: Porter Brewery: Odell Brewery Serving Type: Bottle Picked up a 6 of this last night. Pours dark black with a quarter inch head. Good retention. The nose was a little sweeter than I expected from this porter. Smelled very rich with hints of smoke and chocolate malt. Mouthfeel was also substantially lighter than it seemed in the glass. It had a nice texture and was not cloying. Taste was...
The long forgotten tumblr...
So i just remember that I have this thing called a tumblr that i was excited about for a little while but have recently neglected. So I decided i would start using this as a place to do beer reviews because after the shitty day I have had I needed a beer, or like 3 six packs.
