Beer Me

Love of beer exists beyond the pleasures of taste and of mind. It is a commitment to the art, the science, and the passion of its creation. From the lowly piece of barley destined to be malted, to the hops in a boil slowly being isomerized; love of beer is not a hobby, it’s a life choice.

My Lucky Day

Yesterday Eddie and I trecked into the Flemish part of Brussels called Flagey. It was one of those days that you forget exists here in Brussels, what is it called…..um…..shit…..oh yeah sunny. This was a rare treat. So we walked for a couple hours until we were super far away from our flat, then decided to hit a pub and get a few beers. Well this particular pub didn’t have much in the way of beer, so we both ordered a pint of Guiness. The guys behind us ordered what was called a tango, which is Jupiler beer with grenadine in it. When eddie asked what it was and tried to order one, the bartender thought he was joking and just laughed at him. I think it is kind of considered a girly drink.

Anyway back to the guiness. When my third pint of guiness came, the head had a perfect 4 leaf clover in the top of it! I tried to take a picture with my cell phone but it really didnt come out. So I drank the beer and walked outside. I walked a few feet down the sidewalk and found a 5 euro bill! NICE! That’s like 7 US! Then when I got up this morning I found out that i didn’t have to go to work! I think my Guiness 4 leaf clover blessed me with good luck! Well then I looked on the world wide web which shattered my dreams and told me that many bartenders do this with Guiness using the spout to draw, especially because foreigners get a kick out of it…..guilty…..Well apparently real Guiness enthusiasts don’t like it because the symbol for Guiness is a harp not a clover. Who knew?
